Dear Members of the Joseph Sarwuan Tarka University Makurdi (JOSTUM) Community,
I am pleased to share with you the recent outcomes of a comprehensive hostel inspection conducted by the Student Union. The findings have led to an array of proposed improvements aimed at enhancing the overall living and academic experience within our university.
The proposed enhancements encompass various aspects, including a strategic reinforcement of security measures, an upgrade of existing amenities such as fans and sockets, the implementation of improved street lighting, and the installation of public address systems within the halls. Furthermore, plans are underway to elevate the ambiance of the Agronomy Large Hall and, perhaps most eagerly anticipated, the issuance of student identification cards.
In recognition of the diligent efforts of the Student Union, the Vice Chancellor has expressed commendation and assurance that swift and effective solutions will be implemented. A committee, inclusive of representatives from the Student Union, is being assembled to address these multifaceted concerns and work collaboratively towards their resolution.
However, the discourse takes a more serious turn as the Vice Chancellor has voiced profound dissatisfaction regarding instances of misuse and vandalism of university property by certain members of our community. In response, the Student Union issues a stern warning to all hostel residents, outlining the potential consequences of engaging in such behavior, including immediate eviction and severe disciplinary actions.
In a bid to maintain administrative transparency, we wish to remind all students to ensure the completion of their financial obligations before the impending deadline of March 18th. Beyond this date, late payment penalties will be applied, with the subsequent closure of the payment portal one week later. The cooperation and support of the entire university community are sought during this crucial period of financial advocacy.
Your understanding and cooperation are highly appreciated as we collectively work towards fostering an environment conducive to academic excellence and personal development.
Cheers,
COMR, TERNGU SOLOMON
